Casual ball-catching game
Drop Flinko is a free-to-play arcade game. Inspired by the classic Plinko board game, this app lets you drop balls on moving buckets and awards points for every ball caught. Additionally, successfully caught balls are returned to your stock, and lets you play for as long as you have balls left.
With its potentially limitless gameplay, Drop Flinko is a great way to pass the time while training your timing and response time. The biggest letdown, however, is that it doesn’t include pins to make the balls random, unlike The Price is Right - Plinko or Lucky Plinko Spin.
Simple drop and catch
Drop Flinko departs from the traditional board game. Plinko boards usually involve balls or pucks dropped on a board filled with pins. The dropped ball goes through the pins, bouncing along as it falls to one of the multiple pockets at the bottom. In this game, you still see a triangular arrangement of dots. Unfortunately, they don’t serve any purpose other than as a low-resolution background.
Here, the game mechanic is simple. You open the basket on top and balls fall down. The task is to time the falling balls to fall into the moving buckets at the bottom. Caught balls are returned to your stockpile and missed ones are lost forever. The game ends when you no longer have any of those tiny balls to drop.
For the app, there are a lot of ads that interrupt the gameplay experience. Other than that, there are no changes in the game despite having a lot of stages. There are no additional gimmicks for the later stages. The only difference is that the score multipliers on the buckets also increase as you go on. The poor difficulty scaling makes the game boring and predictable as you go on.
Relaxing but gradually gets boring
Despite the misleading association with classic Plinko games, Drop Flinko is more of a simple drop-and-catch game. The pins are only there for show and would’ve made the experience more interesting. Other than that, the task of dropping balls to the buckets remains relaxing although the lack of a steady difficulty progression. Combine the stagnant gameplay with excessive ads and you have something that gets boring down the line.
